During my time in the Dominican
Republic, I had mentioned that the Lord had given me a vision for starting a
community center. Over the last several years, that vision has grown. Before
leaving for the World Race, my prayer was to see God’s people the way He sees
them. I have fallen in love with every country I have gone to and the Lord has
broken my heart for His people while building a desire in me to see this world
restored and renewed.
I believe the Lord is revealing
my role in this to be building community centers to empower those who live
within each community. Each center will look different depending on the needs
for that particular area. Overall, it is my goal to see children graduate high
school and then college, medical clinics offering help to those with AIDS or
other illnesses, jobs forming for those currently unemployed, skills being taught
to widows or single parents, food pantries being built, and churches being planted
to help nourish the spiritual needs.
My dream is to disciple the community and raise up a member native to the community to run the
community center. I want the people to feel like this is their project. I want
them to have something tangible that they worked on together creating unity. But
of all of these things, I want the community to understand God’s love and grace.
I want them to be able to reflect what He has done in their own lives and
enable others in the community to rise up and help be the change this world
needs.
This is definitely a long term goal and in the planning stages but nonetheless prayer needs to begin now.
Please join me in fighting for the sense of community that appears to not exist.
Fighting for the fellowship that Acts teaches us. Fighting for the identities
that appear to be lost. Fighting to ignite hope for the hopeless. Fighting for the
type of love that Jesus demonstrates everyday with us.
